Are you looking for a new insulated wallboard? If so, you’ve come to the right place. Here are a few questions to ask yourself before making your decision: Is it 100mm PIR, Thin R XT/UF, or CW? This article will provide you with answers to these questions and more! It also contains useful information on Xtratherm boards and their soundproof qualities.
Xtratherm 100mm PIR
Xtratherm 100mm PIR is a thermal insulation board available in a variety of thicknesses, ranging from 25mm to 150mm. This soundproof and flame retardant insulation is made from a fibre-free rigid polyisocyanurate (PIR) core and is bonded to low emissivity composite foil on both sides. It is lightweight and easy to cut and handle.
It is the most common type of insulation board used for walls, and it offers excellent thermal performance. The low K-Value ensures long-term thermal performance. Its dimensional stability makes it easy to install and maintain, and it is soundproof. Its soundproof properties also mean that it can be used on floors and walls as well. Because of its low emissivity, it also minimises noise and moisture intrusion in valuable living space.
Xtratherm Thin R XT/UF
The thermal insulation board Xtratherm Thin R – SR/UF is a suitable alternative to Kingspan TF70. It is designed for use in both ground supported and suspended floors. This board is certified as meeting the strict EN 13165 standards and offers outstanding thermal performance. It is available in various thicknesses, including the highly effective ultra-thin range. It achieves an impressive thermal conductivity of 0.022W/mK. Its high compressive strength and thermal insulation properties make it suitable for both new build and refurbishment projects.
The Xtratherm Thin R XF range has a varying level of soundproofing. The thicker the strip, the lower the soundproofing. Xtratherm Thin-R products are able to withstand a variety of conditions. Their performance is highly stable, meaning they continue to offer protection throughout the lifetime of the building. XT/UF is suitable for homes and businesses that need insulation in their basements.
Xtratherm CCW Partial Fill Cavity Walls are made of top class polyisocyanurate (PIR) rigid foam with T&G edges for maximum air and moisture penetration resistance. They also maintain the residual cavity, which protects buildings from wind driven rain. The board is sized at 1200mm x 450mm, so they are suitable for use in new builds and extensions.
The thermal efficiency of Xtratherm CCW boards is exceptionally high. The certified U-value of 0.022W/mK is a testament to their exceptional performance. They are manufactured with either Tongued and Grooved or Square Edge jointing to minimise thermal bridging. Tongue and Grooved jointing is not available for all CCW boards and therefore, not every project requires it.
Xtratherm CCW’s soundproof properties are enhanced by the inclusion of a low-emissivity foil facing. Its thermal performance is also improved by a residual cavity. Xtratherm CCW is available with a tongue-and-groove board profile. Depending on the requirements of the project, this board is suitable for both underfloor and external use.
The Xtratherm ULTRATHIN R combines the thermal performance of Kingspan and the soundproofing benefits of a thin-film PIR insulation board in a single product. Its thermal performance is 0.022 W/mK, while its compressive strength is 140kPa at 10% compression. In terms of soundproofing, Xtratherm ULTRATHIN R meets or exceeds the latest building regulations.
The ULTRATHEATM XT/ULTRATHINK is a rigid phenolic floor insulation board, manufactured to EN 13165 specifications. It is highly resistant to fire and has an ultra-low thermal conductivity. It is also very lightweight and is easy to install. This product is a high-performance floor insulation solution with low thermal conductivity and a high compressive strength.
Xtratherm ULTRATHIN R rigid insulation board is a multi-purpose product that is suitable for walls, floors, roofs and timber frame systems. Designed to fit between rafters in a pitched roof, it is both soundproof and fireproof. Furthermore, it has a long lifespan and is easy to maintain. You can even install it in existing buildings. Its versatility makes it a smart choice for any building application.
